The Preschool Room
2.5 – 4 years, 1 staff for every 8 children
Up to 16 preschoolers settle into their projects under the guidance of two full-time staff. These little ones are kept busy all day with a large variety of activities that will prepare them for Kindergarten by allowing ample time to explore the world around them.
Montrose Preschool
Welcome to Preschool, where our motto is “There is No Such Thing as Bad Weather Only Inappropriate Clothing!”. We strongly believe in the importance and benefits of outdoor play and it is a big part of our program—regardless of the weather!
In preschool, we believe that children are capable learners! We believe that risky play is an important part of their learning and allows them to build an awareness of the capabilities and limits of their bodies.
Although we do have a variety of toys, puzzles and more in the preschool room, we also value “loose parts” play, that is a vast selection of materials that allow for creativity and open ended play. The possibilities and your child’s imagination are endless!
Preschool Room Staff
Bibi (R.E.C.E.)
Hi, I’m Bibi, a RECE who graduated from GBC. I have been in the field for 12 years, which is as long as I’ve been employed at Montrose. I enjoy traveling and cooking with my family.
Cheryl (R.E.C.E.)
Hi, I’m Cheryl. I graduated from George Brown College with a diploma in early childhood education in 2007. I went on to complete my bachelor degree in early childhood education at Ryerson University in 2014. I am also a certified Forest School Practitioner with Child and Nature Alliance of Canada and have been running forest school programs for kids of all ages since 2018. I’ve had the pleasure of working at Montrose since 2007 and have worked with all age groups. I highly value outdoor play and education and try to bring nature into the classroom as much as possible.
